AmeriCorps Crews are co-ed, residential crews that consist of up to eight Corps Members and two Crew Leaders who come together from all walks of life to build strong bonds with each other and the surrounding environment. All crews work as a team to complete high-priority conservation projects ranging from watershed restoration, trail building, historic building preservation, and bridge construction. Crews will work with a variety of sponsoring agencies including the US Forest Service, The US Army Corps of Engineers, Vermont Department of Forest, Parks, and Recreation, and various local and national non-government conservation organizations. These relationships will expose AmeriCorps Crews to a variety of future employment options and allow the opportunity to network with staff at the various agencies.
In addition to the projects, each work day holds many opportunities for building technical skills, exploring diverse perspectives during WoRD, gaining job and career building skills, and learning about the natural world. Corps Members also have the chance to develop their leadership skills among their peers through a variety of hands-on activities.
