This spring we have 22 amazing students from three different institutions working with Sustain Champlain. These are the folks on the ground, making much of it all happen.
Student positions include: Work Study, Interns, and Eco-Reps.
WORK STUDY
Our work study positions are an opportunity for students interested and passionate in sustainability issues to further the culture of sustainability within the Champlain College community. Students in these positions help raise awareness and encourage environmentally responsible behavior of campus residents, including waste reduction and energy conservation.
Rebecca Carlson ’14 Outreach Liaison From New Jersey, Rebecca is majoring in Environmental Policy with a minor in Business Administration. Her main areas of focus for Sustain Champlain are within our food sector and the fair trade campus designation. Fun facts: * I’ve been scuba diving on the two largest barrier reefs on Earth. * I’ve been stung by the most painful insect sting known to man (a bullet ant). * I am arguably the best waffle cone maker in the world.
Mariana Franzetti ’16 Graphic Design Specialist From New Jersey, Mariana is studying Management of Creative Media with a specialization in Game Production Her main focus for Sustain Champlain is doing graphic design and social media outreach. Fun fact: I love cocker spaniels.
Mae Sullivan ’17 Waste Reduction Coordinator From Connecticut, Mae is majoring in Broadcast and Streaming Media at Champlain College. Mae is Waste Reduction Coordinator, running the Green Teams for Open Houses and other campus events. Fun Fact: I was born in California and lived in Colorado before coming to Connecticut.
Eco-Reps
Spinner Place Eco-Reps:
Curran McKee ’16. Curran is a Sophomore who loves Burlington and getting outside.He became an Eco-Rep because he cares about sustainability and he wants to help Champlain. He is also an ambitious Filmmaking major, who wants to use his unique skills to increase sustainability on Champlain’s campus.

Quarry/371 Main/Summit Eco-Reps:
Renae Bouchard ’16. Renae is a returning Eco-Rep in her sophomore year as a Business Administration major. She wanted to be an Eco-Rep again because she had so much fun last year. She eventually wants to open her own sustainable business someday, maybe a tea café. She is a friendly and adventurous person who loves Burlington and the Champlain student body.
Nia Hazell ’16. Nia is an Environmental Policy major in her second year at Champlain. She is a daring writer, who loves the beauty of Burlington and enjoys being outside. She is a returning Eco-Rep that loved the position last year and can’t wait to work with the small community at Champlain again.
North Campus Eco-Reps:
Erin Davies ’17. Erin is an Environmental Policy major in her first year at Champlain. She is a passionate protector of our planet, who can’t wait to make a difference in her Eco-Rep position. She loves to hike and loves Burlington.
East Campus Eco-Reps:
Alexandria “Lexi” Ratajczak ’17. Lexi is an Accounting major in her first year at Champlain. She enjoys doing anything outside, and thinks that Burlington is a beautiful place full of nice people. She became an Eco-Rep because it sounded fun and interesting, and she enjoys the outdoors.
Dennis Ngo ’17. Dennis is a Game Design major in his first year at Champlain. He became and Eco-Rep because he wanted to work with the environment. He loves all of the different people at Champlain and in Burlington, and looks forward to getting to know more of them through his Eco-Rep position.
Sarah White ’17. Major: Environmental Policy

West Campus Eco-Reps:
Kaitlin McCarthy ’16. Originally from Massachusetts, Kaitlin is an Elementary Education major. Kaitlin became an Eco-Rep because she wanted to get involved on campus as a leader in a way that would be meaningful. At home, she has a Siberian Husky named snowball.
Grant Kaiser ’16. Grant is humorous Sophomore, who became an Eco-Rep to learn more about the environment. He loves hanging out in a hammock on a beautiful day, and enjoys all of the great activities that Champlain and Burlington have to offer during the winter and summer.
Brendan DeGrafft ’16. Brendan is a Sophomore at Champlain. He is a passionate and conscientious person who became an Eco-Rep because he likes the environment and wants to protect it. He loves the people of Burlington and enjoys walking around outside. He also is a talented didgeridoo player.
South Campus Eco-Reps:
Aaron Higgins ’17. Aaron is an Eagle Scout that is focused on making a difference in the Champlain community. He can’t stand bottled water, and became an Eco-Rep to change that culture on our campus.
Emma Campbell ’17. Emma is a creative and independent person who loves hiking in Vermont and enjoys the beauty of the area. She became an Eco-Rep because she truly loves the environment and wants to make a change in her community.
