Seeking a legislative intern who can help with research, document preparation and legislative tracking to support the Department of Environmental Conservation’s (DEC) work in the Legislature this coming session. This position would be up to 20 hours a week and would generally be housed at National Life – not in the statehouse. In particular, the projects will include: (1) developing a 2015 DEC Fee Proposal, including research, information gathering and data entry, and presentation prep; (2) tracking media and social media, responding to information requests and preparing policy materials on pending DEC legislation, including shoreland protection bill, Act 148 (universal recycling) implementation, surface water protection, and other DEC priorities; and (3) helping to prepare written legislative summary materials on a weekly basis for Commissioner Mears and Secretary Markowitz.
This is an unpaid position but earning academic credit is possible. UVM students can ride the LINK Express bus (Burlington-National Life in Montpelier and back) for free with student ID.
Please send resume and cover letter briefly describing interest and relevant experience to Trey Martin, Senior Counsel for Government Affairs, DEC Trey.Martin@state.vt.us by Monday, January 6th.
