LEND A HAND. VOLUNTEER – United Way’s Volunteer Connection site is set up to help connect agencies and volunteers. Agencies are working hard to navigate volunteering during this time, but opportunities are increasing. Here is a link for Volunteer Connection to learn more about these and other opportunities.
SUPPORT BLOOD DRIVES – American Red Cross is seeking volunteers to help with local blood drives. Blood Donor Ambassadors engage with donors to set the stage for a long-term commitment to regular blood donations, assist donors with re-hydrating after donation and observe for post-donation reactions, and express gratitude to thank all donors for their donations. SORT AND STOCK – Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity’s Swanton ReStore needs help to sort, stock and organize donations that are coming in daily. Tasks include unloading donations, stocking shelves, testing electronics, or assist customers. The store in open Thursdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Volunteers aged 16 and older can help for an hour, a day or daily. To volunteer, visit https://vermonthabitat.org/volunteer/
FACILITATORS NEEDED – Outright Vermont is looking for queer-identified adult facilitators age 21 and older, to help model healthy behaviors and ensure that the group is safe and supportive for everyone. Youth lead the conversations and choose the topics while the facilitators uphold the youth-generated rules and provide support and referrals, facilitation or counseling backgrounds are not required. MAKE IT KNOWN – Education and Enrichment for Everyone (EEE) is looking for ongoing volunteer help with publicity. The most pressing need is for creation and updating of a Facebook account and submission of a calendar of events to Front Page Forum neighborhoods. All tasks can be done remotely. RECONNECTION – Are you a mental health professional with a desire to work with the military population? Here’s the chance to give back to this community in a meaningful way. The American Red Cross is seeking volunteers to assist with virtual Reconnection Workshop modules to military, veterans, and their families in various community-based settings. Tasks include identifying opportunities for presentations and helping to plan meeting logistics, staying up-to-date on mental health research and practices for military, veterans and their families, and being available to mentor and co-teach with new facilitators.
