FSNE is hiring its next Communication Director

Please share this opportunity with your networks and colleagues!

As a regional, six-state network, Food Solutions New England unites the food system community around a shared set of values – democratic empowerment, racial equity and dignity for all, sustainability, and trust – and strengthens the movement’s ability to achieve New England Food Vision goals. FSNE envisions a powerful food movement that democratically transforms New England’s food system so that it is sustainable, just, and resilient.

FSNE’s programming is organized around our four unique and essential contributions to our regional food movement. These four “impact areas” are network strengthening, racial equity & values leadership/practice, narrative strategy, and visionary policy coordination. These impact areas are those best done at a regional scale and are designed to be supportive of the specific missions of the many values-aligned organizations, businesses, agencies, and people working on food systems efforts in our region.

This position is full-time, salaried, benefitted, and primarily remote (from any New England location).

The new Communication Director will build on the strategic and operational communications work done over the years and help move the network toward its food system transformation goals. This is an exiting opportunity to be part of one of the most dynamic and evolving regional networks in the country.

Food Solutions New England is a regional, six-state network that unites the food system community around a shared set of values – democratic empowerment, racial equity and dignity for all, sustainability, and trust – and strengthens the movement’s ability to achieve New England Food Vision goals. We envision a powerful food movement that democratically transforms New England’s food system so that it is sustainable, just, and resilient. The network is coordinated by the UNH Sustainability Institute in Durham, NH, USA, a national leader among higher education institutions for its sustainability achievements.

The FSNE network does not endorse or oppose specific legislation or candidates for elected office. Instead, we seek to inform, educate and advocate for actions and general policy ideas that align with the network’s stated values and vision for a just, sustainable, and resilient regional food system. While FSNE is supported, in part, by the UNH Sustainability Institute, our activities do not reflect the positions of the University of New Hampshire, the University System of New Hampshire, or its Board of Trustees.
Statement from the University of New Hampshire: As we all journey on the trail of life, we wish to acknowledge the spiritual and physical connection the Pennacook, Abenaki, and Wabanaki Peoples have maintained to N’dakinna (homeland) and the aki (land), nibi (water), lolakwikak (flora), and awaasak (fauna) which the University of New Hampshire community is honored to steward today. We also acknowledge the hardships they continue to endure after the loss of unceded homelands and champion the university’s responsibility to foster relationships and opportunities that strengthen the well-being of the Indigenous People who carry forward the traditions of their ancestors.
