I’m reaching out today from the LoveYourBrain Foundation, a Vermont-based nonprofit supporting people affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI). LoveYourBrain was co-founded by brothers Adam and Kevin Pearce in 2014, after Kevin suffered a near-fatal TBI while training for the 2010 Olympics. Kevin’s remarkable journey toward healing was documented in the film ‘The Crash Reel’, and since then Kevin and Adam have supported the TBI community across the globe through the LoveYourBrain Foundation.

I’m reaching out today because our 5th Annual Golf Tournament is taking place on Monday, September 20th at the Burlington Country Club. We are hoping to recruit and engage some volunteers for the day, as we create an event that aims to build community, educate about TBI, and provide some great hands-on experience in event management.

Ideally, we are looking for 8-10 volunteers who can support all aspects of the event. In the past, I have rotated volunteers around throughout the day so that everyone can participate in all volunteer roles. Specific roles at this event will include:
– Support at check-in and registration (welcoming guests, cross referencing names on sheets, processing day-of payments and donations, and communicating hole numbers to each golfer or foursome) – Support at various holes on the course (processing payment for pay-to-play on-course games, ie: longest drive)- Support with assembling gift bags, raffle tables, and prize tables during course play- Support with running raffle prizes, awards, and gift bags to participants during and after lunch

The time commitment for volunteers will be:
– 7:30am volunteer arrival and volunteer orientation 
– 8:30am volunteering begins with supporting at check-in
– Approximately 1:30 – 2:30pm: Lunch and awards follow tournament play 
– Approximately 2:30 – 3:30pm: Event wraps up!
We cover lunch for all volunteers, build in breaks, and ensure there is ample time to engage with LoveYourBrain team members to make it a day of mentorship and learning.
