This is the moment our generation has been waiting for our entire lives. For years climate change has been absent from politics. Last year, we changed the course of our country forever when we put the Green New Deal on the map.

Last week, a CNN poll showed that the Green New Deal is the most popular policy among likely Democratic voters in Iowa.¹ Record numbers of Americans see how climate change is impacting them and expect politicians to take action.² This year, we’re poised to make history and put us on track to make the Green New Deal law in 2021.

But to make it happen we’ll need to bring in tens of thousands more people, and fast. That’s why I’m so excited to announce our Sunrise Summer and Fall Fellowship.

We’re looking for young people (18-30) ready to go all-in this summer and/or fall with Sunrise to help us empower the tens of thousands of people in our communities to take action ahead of 2020.

Sunrise Fellows will live in a Sunrise Movement House with other Fellows, or work remotely to support the explosive growth of our Movement. Here is some of what fellows will be doing:

• Train thousands of young people to lead the fight for our future
• Organize their communities to respond to climate disasters and expose the corruption of the politicians and CEOs responsible
• Organize in early Presidential primary states to hold all the candidates’ feet to the fire, demanding they reject fossil fuel money and make the Green New Deal a day one priority.
• Help organize Change the Debate, the largest demonstration at a Presidential Primary debate in American history.
• Work with our Communications, Digital, or Hub Support teams to take our message to millions and invite people across the country into the movement.

Sunrise intends to cover the full cost of living for fellows who need support, with the recognition that this cost is different for different people, depending on factors such as your background, location, and debt.

Our movement has grown an incredible amount over these past few months. We went from 15 hubs in November to 180 today. We’ve gone from 200 monthly donors to 2000. Tens of thousands of people have taken action for the first time. We’re poised to do something incredible: shape who our next president is and what they stand for.

This fellowship will not only change lives but it will turbocharge our movement for that critical fight as we go into 2020.
