Congregations Invited to be Sponsors of VTIPL Conference
VTIPL again welcomes congregations to be sponsors of our Annual Conference which will be on Saturday, October 13 at Faith United Methodist Church in South Burlington this year. Sponsoring congregations donate $50.00, and then will be listed and thanked in the program distributed to conference participants, as well as on the VTIPL website. We are very grateful for the donations from sponsoring congregations. VTIPL’s Annual Conference helps raise funds that support VTIPL, our programs and work. Sponsorships are an important part of this. More information about congregational sponsorships will soon be posted on the website.
Happening: A Clean Energy Revolution – Film Showing in Marshfield
This documentary, featuring many ways to address global climate change, will be shown on Thurs., June 7, 7 pm, at Jaquith Public Library (122 School Street) in Marshfield. It’s free and open to all. A discussion will follow the film. The sponsors include Jaquith Public Library, Marshfield Energy Committee, Salmon Falls Sangha, and VT Interfaith Power & Light.
Poor People’s Campaign Continues
The six week campaign continues across the country and here in Vermont. In Montpelier on Mon., June 11, there will be a gathering at the Community College of Vermont (on Stonecutter’s Way next to Hunger Mt. Coop) in support of striking teachers and other workers. Energy Resource Fair & Town Meeting with Senator Sanders
The Energy Fair will be at VT Technical College in Randolph Center on Sat., June 9 from 10 am – 2 pm. Participants will hear from Senator Sanders and a panel of national and state energy experts. There will be two workshop sessions including, along with others, workshops on going solar, home energy efficiency, heat pumps, clean wood heating, and community-wide energy transformation efforts. The event is free and lunch will be provided. The Fair will also have exhibits on energy efficiency, renewable energy and more. There will be an electric vehicle expo, a zero energy modular home, and a complete home energy makeover trailer. RSVPs are requested, but not required. An RSVP will not guarantee a spot at the event – entrance is on a first-come, first-serve basis. To RSVP or for more info, go to the website or call 1-800-339-9834.
SunCommon Sun CARnival this Saturday
This event will be from 2 – 6 pm at Veterans Memorial Park (1642 Dorset St.) in South Burlington. The many fun activities include the opportunity to test ride or drive an electric car, yard games, live music, food trucks, and a solar-powered bouncy house. Sponsors include SunCommon, Drive Electric Vermont, Cyclewise, and the Essex and South Burlington Energy Committees. Details are here.

“Carbon Bubble” Coming that Could Wipe Trillions from Global Economy
A study by an international team of economists and policy experts, published in the journal Nature Climate Change indicates that “momentum behind technological change in the global power and transportation sectors will lead to a dramatic decline in demand for fossil fuels in the near future.” This means the “carbon bubble” is likely to burst.
