SHOP & DROP – Cathedral Square invites volunteers to shop at the Williston Food Shelf and then drop the items at a senior’s home and spend a few minutes visiting with someone who would love the company! The Food Shelf is open Thursday and Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings. Volunteers are also needed to do some good old fashioned dusting at senior living in Williston. FIGHTING HUNGER – Vermont Food Bank is looking for volunteers to sign up to volunteer at this year’s Point to Point, the cycling and running fundraising event on Saturday, August 11th. Volunteers can help at the registration table, food truck village, information booth, family fun zone, or rest stops along the courses. Volunteers receive complimentary snacks and an event-shirt. INTERNS NEEDED – ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain is seeking interns with an interest in Science, Ecology, and clean water. Interns may create a video to highlight the Open Door program for under-served communities, weigh and feed turtles, guide children exploring the wonders of moose and bears, participate in the design of interactive exhibits, and more. VOICE OVER – Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity is searching for a volunteer theatrical or voice professional to help craft their in-store advertisements and re-record their voicemail tree. MEAL PREP – Prevent Child Abuse Vermont needs help feeding families participating in their parenting groups. They will provide the ingredients and need volunteers to prep meals that can easily be frozen and later warmed up in a crockpot or oven. CANTEEN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – American Red Cross Blood Services is in need of Canteen volunteers at the Red Cross Blood Center. Volunteers welcome donors, serve refreshments, chat with donors, and alert staff if a donor is not feeling well. Training provided. Flexible 2-4 hour shifts during center hours. GUEST CHEF – Ronald McDonald House Charities of Burlington needs volunteers to make cookies, prepare a dessert or plan & prepare a dinner meal for guest families. SUBSTITUTE COOKS NEEDED – Burlington and Winooski Dismas House are looking for substitute volunteer cooks to fill in when there are cancellations among regular volunteers. Individuals, families or civic groups may bring prepared food or bring groceries and cook in the house kitchens and then join residents and share the dinner with them.
