Outdoor Education Internship, September 7 – December 21, 2017
Owl Woods Outdoors is seeking a creative, motivated, and engaging teaching assistant for its fall program. The teaching assistant will be onsite working with young children, 3 hours per week (2:30-5:30pm) at Owl Woods, in Underhill, VT (must provide own transportation). Interns may be eligible to receive academic credit from their schools, depending upon institutional requirements.
Owl Woods Outdoors is an after school program for kindergarten, first, and second graders focused on outdoor skills and teamwork. Children will explore woods, streams, and beaver ponds, play games in the forest, and learn to be comfortable outside in a range of weather. We will build fires and shelters, cook outside, maintain trails, tie knots, follow tracks, observe seasonal changes, and learn about maps. If weather permits, we will snowshoe and cross country ski. Through these activities, we seek to help children of all ages find joy in working together and safely being outdoors in all seasons. Learn more about our program here.
Applications will be accepted until 8/31/17, or until position is filled. Send cover letter and resume to Amy Kelsey, diller.amy@gmail.com.
