Been on the bus lately? Heard about coming updates? Need more information on its awesomeness? This is just a quick update on all things “City bus”:
- CCTA changed their name to Green Mountain Transit (GMT). They are doing a slow rebranding rollout this fall. This is not in any way associated with Mountain Transit who we contract with for shuttles.
- ALL City, LINK and commuter buses are still FREE with your Champlain ID, thanks to CATMA‘s Unlimited Access Program. Just swipe your ID card in the fare reader and sit back and relax. A lot of buses have WIFI available, especially the LINK buses.
- ALL ACTR (Addison County Transit Resources) buses are also FREE. Key routes the Middlebury LINK through Vergennes and up Route 7 and Route 116 Commuter through Bristol, Starksboro and Hinesburg. These are detailed here too.
- GMT are rolling out real-time bus tracking software. Riders will be able to see how close the actual bus is to their stop, and get alerts about traffic or weather delays. They expect it will be launched sometime this fall. This will be huge!
- The new Downtown Transit Center is nearing completion and will be an amazing new space on Saint Paul St. It is only a 14 minute walk to the Transit Center from Champlain.
- A new bus shelter will be installed in September on Maple St, servicing the #8 City Loop, which was removed last winter.
