It is that time of year that The City of Burlington does their big street sweeping operation. This means that cars need to be OFF THE ROAD much like a snow parking ban. Vehicles which remain on the street are subject to $125.00 parking tickets and will be moved to another location. The Champlain Campus is affected on three separate nights so it gets confusing.
I have poured over the maps and can summarize below, just for the streets that students may be parking on at night around Core Campus. Also see the maps link for visual…StreetSweepingAroundChamplain.
- Monday Morning May 2 – Midnight to 7am (yes that means the night of Sunday May 1)
- South Willard St (North of Maple)
- South Union St (North of Maple)
- Maple St (West of S. Willard)
- Tuesday May 3 – 10pm to 7am on May 4
- Summit St (all)
- Maple St (between S. Willard and S. Prospect)
- South Willard St (South of Maple)
- Cliff St (all)
- Spruce St (East of S. Winooski…west is another date)
- Bayview St (all)
- Wednesday May 4 – 10pm to 7am on May 5
- College St (Between S. Willard and S. Prospect)
- Main St (Between S. Willard and S. Prospect)
- South Williams St (All)
It is your responsibility to know the night that may impact you and move your car accordingly. Free parking is available at City lots (see map) and you can park in our Champlain Lots too (including 115 Lakeside) remembering to be out before 8am.
The communication from the City is as follows:
Burlington’s annual street sweeping program will start Wednesday April 27, 2016 until Thursday May 5, 2016. Each night a area of the City will be cleaned by street sweepers. The night your area is cleaned all vehicles need to be removed from the City Streets. Vehicles which remain on the street are subject to $125.00 parking tickets and will be moved to another location.
