Recruiting for Climate adaptation position with US EPA New England (MA)

US EPA New England has a job opening and I will be hiring through the EPA Pathways (recent graduates) program at a GS 7 level.   This will be for candidates that are within 120 days of finishing their student coursework and who are from the local area (New England).   We can also hire Peace Corps volunteers, schedule A- persons with a certified disability and  students who are currently working at other federal agencies with 640 hours of career related work and within the 120 days of meeting their degree requirements.

Environmental Engineer / Life Scientist

The President’s Climate Action Plan and Executive Order released on November 1, 2013 require EPA to prepare the United States for the impacts of climate change through promoting strong partnerships at all levels, to support local government, and to include climate adaptation in EPA’s planning.  This position will be the climate adaptation coordinator and will assist the New England federal partners group to coordinate planning for climate impacts regionally, assist with outreach to communities, coordinate implementation of EPA Region 1’s climate adaptation plan.  The incumbent will work with HQs offices to be consistent with the national climate action plan.
Skills needed (full qualification requirements will be in the job announcement):  Relevant scientific experience as well as a degree in in a science that includes 24 semester hours in engineering or life science.  This position would include collaborating with and tracking community, state, regional and national efforts on climate adaptation, coordination across EPA programs and work with these organizations.    Knowledge of climate science required and GIS a plus.
