Women’s Empowerment Symposium at Champlain College – April 6

Dear Champlain Colleagues:

On behalf of the group of faculty, staff and students who are working on the Women’s Empowerment Symposium event, I’m pleased to send out this announcement as the date draws closer.  All are welcome, including students, faculty, staff and alumni.  Note that you are invited to recognize members of our community via the form linked below.

The keynote for the symposium is Jasmine Rand.  Rand is probably best known as the attorney of the Trayvon Martin family and from her countless appearances in the media concerning this world-famous case. She is a champion for civil and human rights – winning awards from the National Bar Association among others.

2:30-3:15pm – Women Here and Now:  Recognizing and Celebrating Our Achievements – Fireside Lounge

Please join us as we recognize faculty, staff and students who are already empowering women all over campus today.  We will have light refreshments and will hear from people about what Women’s Empowerment means to them.

3:30-4:45pm – Empowering Experiences:  A Panel of Professionals Sharing their Insights – Perry Presentation Room

Please join us as we hear from a panel of professionals as they share their insights on empowering women today.  Topics such as:

  • Women & Professional Dress

  • Women & Salary Negotiation
  • Women in Male Dominated Fields
  • And more…

5:00-7:00pm – Keynote by Jasmine Rand – Girl Power: Fostering a New Generation of Empowered Women – Argosy Gym

Jasmine Rand on how any girl can grow up to become a confident and successful woman and create positive change, even from a very young age.  Rand’s talk will be followed by refreshments and professional networking opportunities.
