The Justice League presents “Taking Action: Becoming an Ally”, April 1st

Facilitators: Faith Yacubian and Rachel de Simone
Description: What does being an ally mean? Who decides who is an ally? Is an ally different than being a person of compassion and acceptance? How does being an ally impact social justice efforts?
Together, we will discuss the multiple definitions and contexts of the word ally. We will look at the history of and present day discourses of ally identity and its relationship to social justice and civic responsibility. In doing so, we will examine the process through which ally identity, as a means towards achieving equity, is developed and is made applicable to your leadership roles or professional studies.
Date and Time: Monday, April 1, 2013 from 3:30pm-5:30pm
Location:  Ireland 217
