In 2011, Bryan and Phyl decided to celebrate turning 50 with a trek across the Swiss Alps. Once home, they decided this kind of vacation shouldn’t be restricted to round number years, so last summer they headed back out. This time, they traveled through the Bernese Oberland section, hiking an average of eight to ten miles a day for eight days and getting up close and personal with the Eiger, Monsch and Jungfrau. Every night they stayed in a different village, sampling local cuisine and culture, before setting out on gorgeous climbs, often with more cows and sheep than humans on the trail.
