MLK Celebration 2017 at UVM: Keynote address on 1/24/17

Sheyann Webb-Christburg, named the “Smallest Freedom Fighter” by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., will be this year’s keynote speaker. At the age of eight, she became inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to become a civil rights activist and participated in the infamous civil rights march known as “Bloody Sunday”. Ms. Webb-Christburg is also nationally known as a co-author of the book Selma, Lord, Selma: Girlhood Memories of the Civil Rights Days, which was later made into a Disney movie entitled Selma, Lord, Selma.

The keynote presentation with Sheyann Webb-Christburg will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in Ira Allen Chapel.

THIS IS A TICKETED EVENT. Tickets are FREE and available per the following schedule:

  • Tuesday, January 17, tickets are available to the UVM community (1 ticket with UVM ID).
  • Friday, January 20, tickets are available to the general public (1 per person).

Tickets are limited and available at: 1st floor Hoffman Information Desk in the Dudley H. Davis Center, Registrar’s Office Student Service Center Kiosk in Waterman Building, and The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine Dean’s Office during business hours.
