Vermont’s Natural History Course | June 28 – July 2 with Teage O’Connor!

A 5-day intensive for K-12 educators (also open to the public!) that explores 500 million years of Vermont’s evolving landscape. You’ll learn to see landscapes as a naturalist does, teasing out the rich stories written in the fabric of Vermont’s rocks, soils, trees, and wildlife. Through field trips, hands-on science activities, and lectures, you’ll develop the capacity to weave together the stories in your own backyard (and schoolyard) and the confidence to share these skills with your students. Graduate credit available through Castleton.

We’re Hiring! | Summer Camp Mentors

As one of our summer camp staff, you will join a group of experienced educators, storytellers, paddlers, musicians, explorers, naturalists, archers, and trackers as we look for creative ways to excite the passions of our kids. As staff, you will have a supportive environment to share your gifts and skills during our themed week-long camps. You will be asked to work collaboratively as well as to lead groups independently. We take a full week in the beginning of the summer to plan, prepare, and get to know each other, while also using this time to train our Middle School Apprentices and Interns. The rest of the summer is spent supervising kids, leading activities for small groups and working with other staff to ensure a safe and adventurous camp experience.

We work to support people of all identities in our programs. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, even if your experience varies from what we have asked for. Above all, we seek applicants who will support our young participants as they navigate their own identities and those of their peers. Applicants should be prepared to facilitate discussions with kids on gender, race, class, and power as topics arise.
