Temporary Receptionist (Volunteer Position)

Cover the front desk from 8:30-4:30, Monday thru Friday, through February 7th while Nada is out on FMLA.

Ideally volunteers will provide a full day or more of time. However a partial day or days will be appreciated if that is your capacity.

We provide an orientation and written instructions. It is a wonderful way to get to know our staff and community.

Organizer(s) of In-Kind Household Donations  (Volunteer Position)

Manage the sorting and organizing (and potentially some of the distributing) of in-kind donations including linens, some kitchen items and all bathroom, laundry and personal hygiene items.

Ideally the volunteer(s) (could be a partners) will come on an as needed/regular basis during business hours Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:30 and 4:30. (It could be possible to extend the hours until 5:30.) The organizer(s) will work with staff, and when necessary other volunteers, to make sure the storage closet is organized in such a way that we can see what we have and/or need and can easily access things to give to our clients.

We will provide an orientation and the federal guidelines outlining what we must provide to new arrivals plus a list of other items we give to clients as best practice.

Organizer(s) of Warm Winter Outerwear  (Volunteer Position)

Manage the sorting and organizing (and potentially some of the distributing) of warm winter outer wear.

Ideally the volunteer(s) (could be a partners) will come on an as needed/regular basis during business hours Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:30 and 4:30. (It could be possible to extend the hours until 5:30.) The organizer(s) will work with staff, and when necessary other volunteers, to make sure the clothing closet is organized in such a way that we can see what we have and/or need and can easily access things to give to our clients.

English Language Teacher (Part-time, paid position)

Teach at a worksite location from 12:00-1:00 on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays (the employer is happy to get started with just one day/week if that is easier).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with course curriculum development;
  • Create lessons plan, assignments, course syllables and outlines;
  • Facilitate lessons and maintain classroom environment that will empower students and ensure successful learning experiences;
  • Maintain necessary communication and provide feedback to student on as needed basis;
  • Assess and evaluate student progress throughout the duration of the course, ensure timely assignment completion; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master Degree in TESOL or TESL or Applied Linguistics (will consider those with a B.A./B.S. with teaching licensure in other areas)
  • Teaching experience, particularly with adult learners, is a plus;
  • Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, public speaking and web-based communication; and
  • Professional appearance and strong work ethic.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
