Let us Vote:

Register Now, Vote in November

In line with Champlain College’s Civic Action Plan, and the College’s mission to educate “today’s students to become skilled practitioners, effective professionals and engaged global citizens”, we ask that you encourage student participation in one most essential democratic functions: voting.

Did you know that in the last mid-term election in 2014, only 17% of Champlain College students voted? Reports from the National Study of Learning, Voting & Engagement (NSLVE) tell us that 58% were registered, but only 17% actually voted.  See the full 2014 Report here

A group of interested faculty, staff and students are committed to raising this number. Our goal? 46% of registered Champlain College students will vote.  We will only get to this goal with your help.

What can you do?

1. Use this one slide as an announcement in your class or student  meeting. September 25this National Voter Registration Day

2. Request an in-person brief (5-10 minutes) presentation for your class or student meeting.

3. Role model for your students, peers,  and colleagues. Register and vote!

Champlain College encourages students and employees to engage in our democracy, when possible. To that end, we partner with TurboVote for voter registration. When you sign up, TurboVote keeps track of your elections, local and national. And if you need to get registered, update your voter registration, or request an absentee ballot, TurboVote will get you all the forms and information you need, when you need them.

TurboVote keeps track of registration and vote-by-mail rules for all 50 states, so you don’t have to. And they can even mail you paper copies of your completed forms, with stamped, addressed envelopes for their local election officials.
