FAIR TRADE – Peace & Justice Center is looking for volunteers to assist their store manager at the fair trade retail store. HOLIDAY HELPER – Steps to End Domestic Violence is in need of holiday helpers to help sort gifts so that every participating child receives the items on his or her holiday list. MOMS AND KIDS – Lund is seeking volunteers to provide supervision and support during planned visits between children and their incarcerated mothers at the Chittenden County Regional Correctional Facility on Saturday mornings. Volunteers should be able to commit to a once or twice a month, 2-3 hour visit for a minimum of one year. There are also opportunities to provide activities during the visits so that families can create something together. Background check required. LAKE BUFFS NEEDED – ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain needs volunteers to help the visiting public learn about the species of wildlife and the fascinating culture and history of the Lake Champlain Basin in Vermont’s only aquarium. Volunteers help bring the exhibits alive for visitors and share ECHO’s mission to preserve this wonderful resource with guests. One 4-hour shift per week for 3 months. SHARE THE WARMTH – Community Health Centers of Burlington invites volunteers to help enrich the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness by serving at their Warming Shelter. Volunteers can help guests have more access to relationships with the larger community, support getting guests settled in the shelter, be active listeners, help with meal service, provide entertainment (music, storytelling, etc.), and help staff keep the space clean and ordered. One shift every week or every other week through mid-April, 5:45-8 p.m. or 6 a.m.-8:15 a.m. Contact Maggie Merriam at mmerriam@chch.org.
