PaperCut Printing Initiative at Champlain

Dear Colleagues:

I am writing today to announce that Champlain College is implementing  a new print management system, PaperCut, that is designed to make printing on campus easier, and less wasteful.  This initiative will occur over the coming year, as old printers are replaced or their lease comes up for renewal. Since this program will affect all printers and copiers at the College, training will be provided in the departments as printers are replaced.

In considering this project, the Informations Systems Department believes there are many benefits to the College to use PaperCut:

  • Reduced Waste – Multi-function Printers (MFP) have an interface that allows you to be selective about which document you need printed.  Queue up a bunch of documents and choose to only print the ones you really need.

  • Secure Printing – With a swipe of your ID card or using your Champlain credentials on enabled MFPs gain access to your documents and print your materials securely.

  • Find Me Printing – Print to a global queue and walk up to any PaperCut enabled printer to collect your print job.

  • Web Print – Print directly from the web, come to campus and retrieve your document  by logging into the printer without having to login to a computer.

  • Additional Web Features (Coming Soon!) – You’ll be able to see things like how much you’ve printed, how your printing affects the environment, and release print jobs from the hold queue to printers that have yet to be PaperCut enabled.

I encourage you to review our Support Wiki page for additional information and instructions as we continue to improve this service.
