SolarFest Free Film Showing in Manchester – Nov. 4, 6:30 pm
SolarFest will show the film How to Let Go of the World and Love all the Things Climate Can’t Change at Southern Vermont Arts Center, 930 SVAC Dr., Manchester. Go to the SolarFest website to find out more, register, and sign up for free tickets. The doors open at 6 and a moderated discussion begins at 6:30. The two-hour film begins at 7 pm.
Dakota Access Pipeline – Nationwide Actions – Nov. 15
350.org is calling for nationwide actions on Tuesday, Nov. 15 in support of those at the site in North Dakota, and to target the Army Corps of Engineers and banks that are funding and companies that are building the pipeline. Find or organize an action in you area. More information is here about where actions are happening. Register Now for Energy Independent Vermont Climate Solutions Summit
This day-long event on Sat., Nov. 19 will kick off the next major stage in the effort to put a price on carbon. The Summit is free and will include learning effective ways to talk with state legislators about pricing carbon pollution. Also, one of the breakout sessions will be a panel discussion on “The Faith Imperative for Climate Action.” The EIV summit happens at Main Street Landing in Burlington on Nov. 19. Green Mountain Monastery Wreath Sale
The Sisters at Green Mountain Monastery in Greensboro, VT are again making and selling wreaths, made from sustainably harvested balsam from trees on their land and neighbors’ land. The decorated 20-inch wreaths are $25 plus shipping. The price per wreath is less for large orders. They will donate a portion of the sales to the Global Catholic Climate Movement. Merchants of Doubt Film Showing in Burlington – Dec. 8 at 6:30 pm
This free showing of the excellent documentary Merchants of Doubt will be at the Unitarian Universalist Church, top of Church Street in Burlington, at 6:30 pm on Thursday, Dec. 8. A discussion time will follow the 1.5 hour film. If you haven’t yet seen it, don’t miss it! Leonardo DiCaprio traveled the world to make this documentary about climate change. You can live stream it for free until Nov. 6 at most sites where you watch films or watch it at the National Geographic website.

Principles of Environmental Justice
This year is the 25th anniversary of the drafting of the 17 principles of environmental justice, written at the People of Color Environmental Leadership Summit in Washington D.C., October 1991. It’s worth drawing attention to them again now. Read them here.
Climate Change – A Life Issue that Deserves Greater Attention
The Catholic Church and other Christian denominations focus on and frequently speak about life issues, but often fail to see climate change as the important life issue it is. This article in National Catholic Reporter asserts that more attention should be given to climate change as a life issue. The article cites Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si, which addresses climate change, and says the Pope speaks of “a host of threats to ecosystems and human life.”
World Medical Association Urges Health Organizations to Divest
Read in this article in VPR online news about the World Medical Association encouraging health organizations to divest from fossil fuels. The Canadian Medical Association has already divested from fossil fuel companies.
