Announcing the 2016 Sustainable Campus Index! With a special mention of Champlain College’s Emergent Media Center

I’m excited to share that AASHE has released the 2016 Sustainable Campus Index, a publication that recognizes top-performing colleges and universities in 17 distinct aspects of sustainability and overall, as measured by the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS). The report also highlights innovative and high-impact initiatives from institutions that submitted STARS reports in the 12 months prior to July 1, 2016.

The institutions and initiatives featured in this year’s Sustainable Campus Index showcase the great work that higher education institutions are doing to lead the global sustainability transformation. I hope the contents of this report will inspire students, administrators, faculty and staff at colleges and universities to work together to implement innovative solutions to the challenges that we face today.

As an additional feature, you can access our new SCI 2016 Photo Gallery within the Campus Sustainability Hub, AASHE’s new online resource library. This gallery includes a comprehensive list of all SCI 2016 images submitted for consideration in the Index. We received more images than we could include!

The following organizations helped to make this publication possible through their sponsorship: Fair Trade Colleges & Universities, The GREEN Program and WRNS Studio. I’m grateful to these and other organizations that are partnering with colleges and universities to advance sustainability!

If you have any questions about the Index, the image gallery, or anything else, please reach out to our Resources team at resources@aashe.org. Thank you for your ongoing participation and engagement!
Sincerely,
Meghan
