ABOUT THE LEARNING EXCHANGE
Something New!
This Learning Exchange aims to offer participants as much diversity in their day as possible. The schedule for this event is flexible to allow the individual to fill their interests through a series of general and breakout sessions.
  • Keynote Speaker: We welcome Jennifer Lynn Shirk of Cornell University this year as our keynote. Jennifer is an expert in the field of Citizen Science working Through CitizenScience.org, and in conjunction with the Citizen Science Association, she supports a community of practitioners who lead, manage, implement, and research citizen science projects.
  • TEDiscussions: Join informal discussion groups and lunch with peers using flexible time scheduling. Group leaders will host a TED Talk video clip and help introduce discussion of its content. Participants will be able to enjoy their brown bagged lunch or have light refreshments as we look at applications to expanding the public’s understanding of science in general and climate change aspects.
  • Citizen Science Training Opportunities: You will notice that there are a couple of opportunities to learn about and become involved in some Citizen Science projects. The Freshwater USA and Air Quality Awareness sessions are open to participants in classrooms, informal center education settings and for individuals. They do require a commitment of time during this day but serve as a great way to get involved and trained.
Pre-registration is required.
