International Education Week at Champlain College – Sunday, November 15 – Friday, November 20, 2015

Champlain College celebrates International Education Week Sunday, November 15 – Friday, November 20, 2015 on Champlain’s Burlington campus.

Sponsored by the Wellness Center, the Social Work Program, the Japan-America Society of Vermont, the Cultural Community Alliance (CCA), Sodexo, Foreign Languages program, International Business Club, and the Office of International Education (OIE), the week will feature international yoga, food, dance, film, body art, crafts, and games.

Here is the current listing of events for the week:

Sunday, November 15

5:45 p.m.: BUTI Yoga IDX 218

Monday, November 16

11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: International Social Change Films, Fireside Lounge

8:15 -10:30 p.m.: International Board Games Night, CCM Dining Nook (behind EATS)

Special Dinner Treat: Montreal Poutine

Tuesday, November 17

7:30 – 8:15 a.m.: Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga, IDX 218

11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: Name that Flag (international flag trivia game), IDX Atrium

7:30 – 9:30 p.m.Relatos Savajes (Wild Tales – in Spanish with English subtitles), CCM 444. Dessert will be served.

Special Dinner Treat: New Zealand Meat Pie

Wednesday, November 18

12:30 – 1:30 p.m.: Intro to Ashtanga Yoga, IDX 218

2:00 – 3:30 p.m.: Ikebana Demonstration by Michiko Oishi (Japan America Society of Vermont), Morgan Room

Special Dinner Treat: Dominican Republic Pastelitos

Thursday, November 19

1:00 – 4:00 p.m.: Maple Mendhi Henna Designs,  Fireside Lounge

8:30 – 10:30 p.m.: Netherlands Night, featuring the Dutch film The Admiral (in Dutch with English subtitles) and Dutch treats, Morgan Room

Special Dinner Treat: Moroccan Tagine Kefta 

Friday, November 20

12:30 – 1:30 p.m.: International Business Roundtable, Aiken 104

8:30 – 10:30 p.m.: New Zealand Night, featuring the screening of the film Boy and snacks from New Zealand, Morgan Room

Special Dinner Treat: Dublin Guinness Stew 

Important note: Parents with young children should be advised that the films contain mature content and are not suitable for young audiences.
