Internship Opportunity at Sustainability International (CA)

We are Sustainability International, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing innovative solutions to complex sustainability and conservation issues in the developing world. We work directly with governments, communities, and private sector stakeholders to bring about real impact and real change.

We are seeking a motivated and self-driven Development Associate to join our growing team. This internship is a rewarding opportunity for students interested in and/or planning to pursue a career in nonprofit management, as it will provide real-world experience in international nonprofit work within a philanthropic organization.

The intern will be responsible for the following:

  • Identifying and researching potential donors, including corporations, foundations and individuals
  •  Assisting in creating materials needed for donor solicitation, including letters, electronic presentations and informational packets
  • Initiating corporate sponsorship/employee engagement opportunities
  • Maintaining databases with donor and prospect information
  • Assisting with the organization and tracking annual fundraising campaigns
  • Assisting in preparing project budgets and proposals

Requirements:

  • MBA/MPA or master’s degree candidate interested in a career in non-profit management
  • Strong commitment to helping the environment and at-risk communities
  • Previous fundraising experience
  • Previous experience in business development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to be a self-starter and follow through on assigned projects
  • Ability to interact professionally with diverse international groups

This is an unpaid part-time internship with the potential to grow with an innovative and rapidly expanding non-profit organization. The intern must be available for a minimum of 5-15 hours a week.
