Panel discussion at Champlain: The many faces of peace, peace building, reconciliation and governance, June 16

I’m very pleased to announce that the MS in Mediation and Applied Conflict Studies and the Vermont Council on World Affairs will be co-hosting a very distinguished group of African visitors for a panel discussion entitled The Many Faces of Peace, Peace-Building, Reconciliation and Governance.

The panel will feature some of our own faculty including mediation faculty Jared Ordway and Core faculty Adam Rosenblatt and myself.  In addition, Jon Kidde and Tom Buck, close friends and collaborators with the mediation program will be joining us to discuss their efforts in restorative justice and Countering Violent Extremism programming.

Our African visitors are from all over the continent: Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Central African Republic (CAR) and others.  They have a broad range of experience and knowledge and include such notables as the CAR’s Special Advisor to the Prime Minister in Charge of Reconciliation and National Cohesion, the Coordinator and Head of the Secretariat for Development and Peace Education of Lesotho and many others.

We would be delighted to see you in Ireland 217 on Tuesday the 16th of June from 10am to noon.  Our guests will also be staying for lunch in our cafeteria for those of you who would like to engage them further.

Feel free to email or call with questions.

Best,
Julian
