Overview
Interested in making a difference this summer? Intern with the Vermont Clean Cities Coalition (VTCCC) and help the nation reduce its dependence on petroleum, lower carbon and local air pollutant emissions, and build a green economy.  The VTCCC is a part of a national network of nearly 100 Clean Cities Coalitions around the nation. The mission of the Clean Cities program is to advance the economic, environmental and energy security of the U.S. by supporting local decisions to adopt practices that contribute to reduced petroleum consumption in the transportation sector.

The Vermont Clean Cities Coalition (VTCCC) was initiated in 2001 and since 2006 it has been hosted at the UVM Transportation Research Center. Past and present stakeholders are numerous and diverse, consisting of both individuals and organizations. VTCCC activities have included maintaining information and databases, writing grant proposals, creating public awareness and interacting within the national network of Clean Cities programs.
Intern Responsibilities
The VTCCC 2015 Summer Intern’s work plan will include a focus on promotion and deployment of AFVs, EV charging stations, and anti-idling efforts on college campuses. This work will build off of the work completed by a former intern of the “Campus Sustainable Transportation Toolkit.” While that effort was on creating a guide, this effort will be focused on implementation of the guide recommendations. The following are the activities they will be completed over their summer internship:

  • Focusing on Vermont Colleges/Universities research and collect data on petroleum reduction efforts
  • Update the VTCCC “Campus Toolkit” and create marketing materials directed to colleges/universities about petroleum use reduction strategies.
  • Contact and work with colleges/universities in the state to discuss AFVs, ATVs, and PEV stations
  • Utilize relationships and synergies to expand VTCCC brand and coalition goals
  • Participate and assist in a variety of the coalition’s outreach efforts

Specific Details
– Positions are 30 or 40 hours/week (determined by the coalition) for 10 weeks
– Summer 2015 Internship Approximate Dates: June 1, 2015- August 14, 2015
– Stipends range from $3,600 – $6,000 per semester depending on academic level and number of hours assigned by the coalition.
– Must be a current undergraduate (Junior or Senior only), graduate student, or up to one year past graduation.
