In honor of October being Fair Trade month, we are hosting a series of free webinarsfor advocates and allies to learn from and engage with one another. Stay tuned for recordings of past webinars, and tune in on October 23 for a training on telling authentic Fair Trade stories.

Campaign Highlights
Voter Registration at
Champlain College
Spending in solidarity with farmers across the globe helps grow economic justice. Eco-Reps from Champlain College hosted a Voter Registration and Fair Trade educational event on October 11 to emphasize the importance of our everyday choices. Be it voting or purchasing, individuals have the power to make a difference every day.
Reverse Trick or Treating at University of Vermont
HTAAC (Human Trafficking Action & Awareness Club) members from theUniversity of Vermont hosted a reverse trick or treating event on October 12 to raise awareness about the cacaoindustry. Through sharing Fair Trade chocolate, campaign organizers were able to spark conversations and educate their community about human rights and sustainability.
St. Thomas Aquinas College Approaches Declaration
The campaign at STAC was inspired by a collaboration with Fordham Universityand they’re now in the final stages of the designation process. Started in early June, the campaign began with a strong foundation. Professors already taught classes about Fair Trade in both the fall and spring and dining services supported the campaign’s goals. The college’s president signed the Fair Trade Resolution in September, and STAC plans to earn designation this fall!
Northeast Leadership Team Training
The 2018-19 Leadership Team met at Colby-Sawyer College last month to strategize for the upcoming year.
The Leadership Team works to support existing campaigns and expand the regional network through outreach, events and fostering new partnerships in support of Fair Trade. Have suggestions for projects we should take on, or how we can better support your work? Please let us know!

Introducing Our New Regional Fellows!
Justain Connor
Justain is currently a senior at Binghamton University in New York. While serving as an intern for a campus organization focused on food sustainability, he helped organize the Binghamton Fair Trade campaign. Between his work on the Binghamton campaign and his studies as an environmental studies and biology major, Justain has developed a desire to promote better consumerism. He believes that widespread adoption of Fair Trade practices are vital to creating a more sustainable world, both socially and environmentally.
Lily Mason
Lily is a passionate advocate for social and environmental reform. She organizes with the Vermont Ibutwa Initiative,Rights & Democracy VT and Sierra Clubto amplify efforts that shift away from exploitative practices towards regenerative methods of producing and consuming. Her experiences coordinating educational events about sustainable purchasing throughout undergrad at Champlain College has encouraged her to continue conversations with community members who are curious about integrating more mindful spending habits. She is so excited to unify and grow Fair Trade campaigns!
