As the director of the Expedition Education Institute (EEI), I am reaching out to you about our travel-study away program in ecological leadership that is accredited through Marlboro College in VT. Our program offers a 15 credit semester program for students who are looking for an off campus opportunity that is deeply experiential, fully outdoors, academically rigorous and an adventure in learning within community. [See below for more EEI info]
You may know students who are seeking this type of semester away and would benefit from spending a semester with the EEI program. Our fall semester will be “Ecology, Economy, and Community in the Pacific Northwest.” Our spring semester will be “Fields of Abundance: Sustainable culture and agriculture throughout California.” If you know of any interested or likely to be curious students, please forward this EEI program information onto them: Fall 2018 Semester Poster and EEI Brochure.
April 15, 2018 is the application deadline for the Fall 2018 semester. Encourage anyone who is interested to inquire by writing to us at bus@marlboro.edu, or to go straight on to securing a seat on the fall semester, by going to: www.getonthebus.org/to-apply
I would also love to meet or speak with you to answer any questions you may have about our program and who are students are and to learn more about your interests and how they intersect with ours. Let me know if you’re interested, even if you’re currently busy (aren’t we all!?), or if there is a time in the coming weeks when we could have a quick phone chat. I’m willing (and mostly able) to arrange a conversation at your convenience. You can also text or call me at the number below.
Our students are consistently grateful for having taken a “bus semester.” We appreciate your help in connecting us with more ecological leaders who are looking for learning and transformation, and who will return to campus even more energized and engaged as learners and leaders!
Thank you for spreading the word to your students and interested colleagues!
Gratefully,
Larkspur

More EEI Info:
EEI leads traveling college semesters that allow students to immerse themselves in the ecology, culture, and landscape in one of America’s bioregions. Living outdoors and meeting with individuals and organizations working to create a sustainable future, students dive deeply into the issues that confront us, with significant opportunities to develop their leadership skills and investigate their passions and gifts. Every semester’s journey allows students to forge deep connections with the natural world, to the members of their traveling learning community, and to their own core values and enthusiasms.
Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.
