Save the Date! VT Interfaith Power & Light Conference on October 21
Our annual conference will be in Manchester, VT this year at First Congregational Church on Saturday, Oct. 21. More details will be in upcoming newsletters. Save the date and plan to come!
People’s Climate March: April 29 in Washington, D.C., Montpelier & Nationwide
People from all over will converge in Washington D.C. for the People’s Climate March (PCM) on 4/29. Buses have been chartered for the trip to D.C. Find out more about PCM in D.C. here. To connect with the faith contingent in D.C., find out more here..
Vermont’s PCM event on 4/29 will be in Montpelier at 1 pm on the Statehouse lawn. We’re trying to reduce the number of cars and ask that people organize buses and carpools. It’s important that people register in advance so we have an idea of how many people are coming. Also, we welcome volunteers to help with various parts of the event. A great line-up of speakers and musicians will motivate and inspire us! Register here and get more details. Sign up to volunteer.

Active Hope Workshop at Metta Earth on April 9
This workshop, facilitated by Marc Lapin, is based on Joanna Macy’s work, The Work That Reconnects. Participants may attend a half day (9:30 – 1) or full day (9:30 – 4) workshop on Sunday, April 9 at Metta Earth Institute in Lincoln. Lunch is offered ($20) or participants may bring a lunch. Donations are welcome. A limited number may participate – register soon! Find out more.
March for Science — April 22
The primary March for Science will be in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, April 22, and many “sister” marches will be held around the country including Vermont marches in Brattleboro, Burlington, and Montpelier. Here are more details.
Year of Creation Events
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington (which covers all of Vermont) is celebrating a Year of Creation in 2017 with a variety of events. On Sunday, April 23 from 5 – 7 pm, Holy Family Parish (4 Prospect Street, Essex Junction) is hosting a roundtable discussion at their Parish Center on initiatives including improving energy efficiency, using renewable energy, managing waste, and more. Everyone is welcome to come to this event, Mercy for Our Common Home.
On September 30, a conference on ecological justice and creation sustainability will be held at St. Michael’s College in Colchester. This daylong conference will feature Dr. Carolyn Woo as the keynote speaker. She is the former CEO and President of Catholic Relief Services, the international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the U.S. The conference will also include a panel presentation, breakout group discussions, and more. Merchants of Doubt Film Showing: United Church of Hinesburg, April 30
Join us for this free film showing and bring a dish to share if you’d like to attend the potluck supper beginning at 6 pm — before watching the excellent documentary, Merchants of Doubt at 6:30 pm on Sunday, April 30. VTIPL’s Coordinator, Betsy Hardy, will facilitate a discussion following the film. The church is at 10570 Route 116, in the middle of the village of Hinesburg. All are welcome. Climate Scientist Katharine Hayhoe’s Recent Speech at Trinity Institute
World-renowned climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe spoke recently at Trinity Institute, a conference at the Episcopal church, Trinity Wall Street, in NYC, and live streamed to host sites around the world (including several in Vermont). Water Justice was the theme of the conference. Katharine shares a number of good tips in this 50 minute video.
