“Service rests on the premise that the nature of life is sacred, that life is a holy mystery
which has an unknown purpose. When we serve, we know that we belong to life and to
that purpose. From the perspective of service, we are all connected: All suffering is like
my suffering and all joy is like my joy.”

With November came Tent City, a homelessness awareness and solidarity event. We spent part of the day at ANEW Place and the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf, folding laundry and handing out food. Later in the evening, we had the opportunity to learn about homelessness and mental illness from Justin Verette, a clinical interventionist for the Burlington Police. Then, a small but conscientious group of students and staff slept out in tents on Perry Lawn to express solidarity with those who are sleeping out in the cold each night. |

Coming Up TODAY!
Converse Home card making
Express your creative side! |

TODAY, Wednesday 12/3, we will be making personalized cards for residents of the Converse Home. These cards are very meaningful to their recipients, some of whom do not have family around – being acknowledged and appreciated, even through a card, goes a long way toward making the winter months more enjoyable. |
