VEEP Hiring Energy Educator-Deadline November 10th

The Vermont Energy Education Program (VEEP) is looking for an experienced science/environmental educator to bring its hands-on, science-based energy literacy programs to Vermont schools and communities in Northwestern Vermont/

Help students & the public learn about energy, using VEEP’s in-class presentations and associated kits.  Our methods are designed to engage students and the public to teach about what energy is, and how to use it efficiently.

You will also promote these programs to teachers and schools in the region, and support other VEEP programs, such as the Whole School Energy Challenge.  For more info about VEEP’s in-class presentations, curricula and other programs see: www.veep.org/veep-programs.html.

This part-time position (12-16 hrs./week, less in summer) serves schools in Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle counties, with flexible scheduling.  (Possibility of additional hours depending on additional grant funding in 2014.)  A minimum of a BA/BS and 2+ years’ experience in teaching science content and/or environmental topics is required, along with a valid drivers’ license and access to a reliable vehicle for frequent on-the-job travel.  You must also connect well with kids and professionals, have excellent presentation, speaking and writing skills, be well-organized and self-motivated.

This is a ‘work from home’ position, so a telephone & access to a computer w/ hi-speed internet is required.  Educators must be available during school hours Monday – Friday, with occasional public events on evenings and weekends. Scheduling is flexible, but you must be responsive & available to needs of teachers and community groups.

PLEASE NOTE: Applicants living within Chittenden, Grand Isle or Franklin County will be given preference. On-the-job mileage & other job-related expenses are reimbursed.
