Restoring native bird habitat
Did you know birds like to nest in gray dogwood? That’s because its branch structure provides protection from predators and the berries are excellent forage. We partnered with Audubon Vermont to restore fallow farm fields into prime habitat for birds.

Monument Farms and VLT protect farmland and wetlands along the Lemon Fair River
Many know Monument Farms for its chocolate milk. We worked with the family dairy and partner organizations to conserve farmland and land along the Lemon Fair River so wetlands and streams can be restored to their natural state.
Good news from Dummerston and Sharon
We worked with the Putney Mountain Association to establish a new hiking trail in Dummerston! Part of an ambitious effort to connect trail systems, the new trail extends south to Prospect Hill and north toward Putney.
Wilfred Moore worked with us to conserve nearly 150 acres in Sharon, alongside the White River Wildlife Management Area.

In a conversation between Chief Don and VLT forester and sugarmaker Caitlin Cusack, we’ll explore the Abenaki relationship to the land and how the maple story is alive today in Abenaki-owned sugaring operations
