Worm Composting in the Classroom

Vermicomposting, composting with worms, is a hands-on way to compost raw food scraps in your own classroom while allowing students the opportunity to explore worm anatomy. Discover how compost adds nutrients to soil and how to care for living beings. Recycle Rhonda teaches all about composting worms, what they can eat and how to make your own bin (or have the students engineer one). BONUS: Discover some fun cross-disciplinary lessons you can use with your students as well.

Thinking Outside the Blue Bin: Special (non-blue-bin) Recycling Explained
