AASHE Sustainability Awards Submissions Open

 

Submit an entry by May 10 to the AASHE Sustainability Awards where your sustainability leadership and research can be recognized on a global scale. Award categories include:

The annual AASHE Sustainability Awards recognize sustainability achievements, research advancements, student leadership and outstanding leaders at institutions of higher education. By raising the visibility of high-impact sustainability projects and pioneering research, the awards program helps share innovations and inspire continued progress toward sustainability.

STARS Community Now Available

AASHE is pleased to announce the launch of the STARS Community in AASHE Connect, the online platform for higher education sustainability leaders to connect, communicate and collaborate with peers. This new community is the perfect place to ask questions, brainstorm ideas, and share resources with other STARS participants. To join the discussion, log into the platform at community.aashe.org with your aashe.org user ID and password, navigate to Communities > All Communities, and click the blue “Join” button.

Green Fund Database Now Available in Campus Sustainability Hub

The Green Funds database is a comprehensive listing of green and revolving funds for higher education institutions across the globe. Over 250 resources are included from four countries and new resources are frequently added.

Find professional development opportunities that will expand your sustainability skills and provide you with strategic alternatives to tackling challenges on your campus. Workshops include:

  • Sustainability Across the Curriculum Workshop | Applications close March 29
    • Become familiar with the philosophy of change in higher education developed through the Ponderosa Project at Northern Arizona University and adapted at Emory in Piedmont Project and learn how to lead curriculum change for sustainability by participating in a two-day workshop featuring presentations, exercises, discussions, reflection and planning. Readings and organizational materials are provided. Drs. Peggy Barlett and Geoffrey Chase will facilitate the workshop. This event will take place June 3 – 4 at Emory University.
  • Sustainability Professionals Retreat | Applications close May 1
    • With a focus on flow, systems thinking, skills-building and strengthening relationships and community, attendees will explore important trends in higher education and how to position sustainability as a solution driver. This event will take place June 19 – 22 at the University of Colorado Boulder.
  • Sustainability, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Workshop | Registration closes June 3
    • Designed for faculty, administrators, staff and student activists of all disciplines, as well as community organizers, city officials and planners, this workshop aims to give attendees the tools to interconnect and integrate sustainability, diversity, equity and inclusion into their campus, curriculum and departments. This event will take place June 12 – 14 at North Hennepin Community College.
