Invitation for Faculty/Staff: “Field Guide to Climate Anxiety” Book Group with Sarah Jaquette Ray (Jan 8, 15 & 22)

Our friends at UVM have invited Champlain faculty & staff to join a book group this January — “A Field Guide To Climate Anxiety: How to Keep Your Cool on a Warming Planet”  (Jacquette Ray, 2020). – available as an e-book through the Champlain Library.

Sarah will be joining us  on Jan 8, 15, & 22, 2021 to dig deeper into her recent book.  Sarah is an environmental justice and environmental humanities scholar from Humboldt State University, and draws on her “experience as a mother, professor, program leader, and certified member of the age of overwhelm” to craft strategies for cultivating resilience, based on research on emotion, social movement history, affect, and environmental philosophy.

“A Field Guide To Climate Anxiety” is written for written for both our “climate generation students” and those who teach and support them. Sarah will join us via Teams for each session as member of the group and together we will discuss ways to “do the work needed to ensure that we can all be the good ancestors to the many generations yet to come.”

If you are interested in joining in this UVM group, please let Christina Erickson know as soon as possible.
