Chittenden Solid Waste District is looking for two people to help educate businesses, residents, and communities about reducing the amount of resources that end up in the landfill. That’s right: We’re looking for those who know the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle-Rot! mantra inside and out. Creativity, enthusiasm, great interpersonal skills, and sense of humor are high on the list. Here are the positions:

EVENT OUTREACH SPECIALIST: CSWD is seeking an outgoing, organized, creative communicator, passionate about recycling and composting to help develop and run an outreach program for reducing waste at events. Includes recruiting and shepherding volunteers to help with the program.
Hourly rate: $18
Term: May 15, 2015 – June 30, 2016
Schedule: Averages 20 hours per week. Flexible, includes some evening and weekend hours.
Location: CSWD Administrative Office, 1021 Redmond Rd. Williston, and fieldwork in Chittenden County

BUSINESS OUTREACH SPECIALIST: CSWD is hiring a Business Outreach Specialist to help ensure that the 6,200+ businesses in Chittenden County have all the assistance they need to meet local and statewide recycling and food scrap diversion requirements. We’re seeking an articulate, adaptable, well-organized individual who is as eager to peer in a Dumpster as they are to translate seemingly complicated materials management rules into simple, approachable terms anyone can understand and support.
Hourly rate: $18
Term: July 1, 2015 – June 30, 2016
Schedule: 20 hours per week, mainly field-based, with the majority of time spent in the field, surveying and educating Chittenden County businesses.
