Week of Noise/Day of Silence at Champlain – April 17

This coming week the INCLUDE LGBTQA student group, and the faculty/staff Rainbow Alliance, invite you to join us in celebrating the Week of Noise/Day of Silence.

Each April, the Day of Silence is celebrated on campuses across the United States as a day to to call attention to the silencing effect of anti-LGBTQA bullying and harassment in schools. Many students, and faculty/staff, will take a vow of silence on this day as a means of recognizing the voices we lose when queer people are ostracized from the conversation, whether through the experience of an unsafe campus climate or through suicide.

FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 2015 marks this year’s Day of Silence and many students, faculty, and staff will voluntarily remain silent until the Breaking of the Silence Party, 4PM in the Fireside Lounge, hosted by INCLUDE.
Throughout the week, students, faculty and staff will also create a Week of Noise!  Look for the INCLUDE table in the IDX Annex, and for the Rainbow Stool in the Hauke Courtyard each day at 12:15pm and 1:45pm.

If you are interested in sharing a story at the Rainbow Stool, please contact Sarah Mell (mell@champlain.edu) to sign up for a spot! We encourage anyone to participate, whether queer identified or ally!
