Montpelier’s Parks and Trees Department is proud to once again be participating in the annual celebration of winter, Ice on Fire, to be held on February 4, 2018 at North Branch Nature Center. This is Montpelier and central Vermont’s community celebration of deep winter with storytelling, song, poetry, theater, and winter sports and games. The city’s Parks Department is responsible for maintaining the park structures and organizing winter games for children and families of all ages.
We are currently seeking volunteers who might be interested in assisting us organize these winter sports and games. We’ll be hosting three legged snowshoe races, blanket tosses, ski races, and more! For each game, we are interested in getting two volunteers to help ensure all participants are well-equipped and safe while they run through these games.
In total, we are hoping to have eight volunteers spread across four locations for each shift, with one afternoon shift (from 1:45pm to 3:00pm) and one evening shift (3:00pm to 4:30pm).
Anyone interested or anyone with questions is welcome to contact me either through email, at rjohnston@montpelier-vt.org, or by calling my desk at (802) 225-8694.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Johnston │Resource Development AmeriCorps VISTA
