No car, no problem.
At Champlain, sustainability is one of our core values. That’s why we encourage students and employees to leave their cars at home. There are plenty of great transportation options that make getting to and around campus easy and convenient. If you need to bring your vehicle, that’s OK, but please be sure you understand all of the parking regulations and obtain a parking permit for your vehicle accordingly.
Parking
All Champlain College students and employees must obtain a parking permit for their cars each semester regardless of where they park. Want to know more about parking…see our “Top 10 Things You Need to Know“ or go to champlain.edu/parking for more information
- Commuter Student and Employee parking permits (Zones 1, 3, 4 and 5) are available to order August 2nd at champlain.thepermitstore.com.
- Residential Student permits 115 Lakeside Ave (Zone 2) and Bayberry Commons will be available to order on August 15th at champlain.thepermitstore.com.
- Students who live at Spinner Place or Bayberry Commons and also those who order a Zone 2 parking permit are automatically enrolled in the Guaranteed Ride Home program which gives you FREE taxi rides back to Spinner, Bayberry Commons or your vehicle anytime the shuttles are not running. Visit catmavt.org for all the information. This is not eligible to be used when shuttles are running or to go other places such as downtown.
- Residential students who are enrolled in the Radiography program, Education Majors or who work past 11pm at least one night per week (verification required), can apply for the Zone 5 parking permit. This is sold on a first come first served basis and spaces are limited. These spaces are reserved for these permit holders 24/7 as they may finish a shift at 3am and need a safe, secure location to park. Anyone using these spaces any time of the day or night without a Zone 5 permit will be subject to tickets and towing.
- Perry Hall, Skiff Hall, Boardman Hall parking lots, Finney Quad and all reserved spaces are enforced 24/7. Parking there will get you tickets day or night.
-
If you don’t see the correct parking permit options when you log in, email transportation@champlain.edu and I will sort it out asap.
Shuttle
Champlain’s FREE shuttles run continuously from the main campus to our Lakeside Campus (and satellite parking area) and also to our Spinner Place and Bayberry Commons residence halls. champlain.edu/shuttle. Track the shuttles live at shuttle.champlain.edu
Orientation weekend is a busy time for getting to and from Champlain. On Move-In Day (Friday August 26th), students and parents are expected to park at Lakeside after unloading the car on campus. There will be a hoard of volunteers to help unload each car as soon as it pulls up on campus and bring the items to the students room. As soon as a car is unloaded, it will be expected to be moved down to Lakeside immediately, with the shuttles (running approximately every 7 minutes) bringing the parent or student straight back up to help unpack in the room. There will be no parking on campus apart from drop offs. We will be running shuttles for Lakeside and Spinner Place at the following dates, times and locations:
- Friday, August 26th
- One small sized bus running from Lakeside-Champlain-Bayberry-Spinner on a continuous loop from 6am- 11pm. This will stop at the Loading Zone Space on Maple St, just west of CCM. Track it at shuttle.champlain.edu.
- TWO full sized buses running from Lakeside to Champlain on a continuous loop from 7:30am- 5:30pm (essentially every 7 minutes). These will use Maple Street Bus Stop (Spinner Bus Stop). No GPS on these buses sorry.
- No small white buses that day
- Saturday, August 27th – One small sized bus running from Lakeside-Champlain-Bayberry-Spinner on a continuous loop from 7:30am- 12:30am (after midnight). Track it at shuttle.champlain.edu
- Sunday, August 28th – One small sized bus running from Lakeside-Champlain-Bayberry-Spinner on a continuous loop from 8am-9pm. Track it at shuttle.champlain.edu
