2014 Key Transportation-Environment-Community Sustainability Events

Greetings,
In 2014, Vermont will be host to 4 significant gatherings the the Transportation Research Center at UVM will be involved in, and that may well be of interest to you, your colleagues and your students.  Please pass along the information as appropriate and do to hesitate to contact me for further information.

Pedestrian-Bicycle Transportation Summit
on March 29th;
AASHTO’s GIS for Transportation Symposium, May 5-8;
the TRB National Conference on Transportation Planning for Small and Medium Sized Communities, July 21-23;
and the Northeast Wildlife & Transportation Conference, September 21-24.

There is a current call for presentations out for the Pedestrian-Bike Transportation Summit.  Further event information will be posted on the CCRPC website (https://www.ccrpcvt.org/).  The UVM TRC will be hosting a poster session on research efforts and programs in progress.  If you or your students would like to participate in that effort please let me know. The AASHTO GIS-T conference (https://www.gis-t.org/) is a chance for persons in government and private industry who are interested in the use of GIS for transportation purposes to get together and share experiences, see state-of-art software, and learn more about this field. It is especially valuable for students.

The National Conference on Transportation Planning for Small and Medium Sized Communities (https://www.trbtoolsofthetrade.org/conference/index.html) should be of particular interest.

Finally, in September VTRANS & VT Fish & Wildlife are hosting the Northeast Wildlife & Transportation Conference at the Sheraton in Burlington (https://www.netwc.org/). Chris Slesar (Vtrans) and Jens Hawkins-Hilke (VT F&W) are the coordinators.They are interested in bringing in as much college and research participation as possible.  Might be some good opportunities for students as well as faculty research.  The call for papers is up at the web site.

Please pass this on to others who would be interested. Let me know if you have any questions.
