“You Have A Voice”
Champlain Professor Duane Dunston is taking donations for his new project “You Have A Voice.” Dunston says he’s starting this project because, “I often hear survivors speak of how they wish someone would’ve asked them for help to get them out of the life they were in early on. However, because the victim may not be able to speak the same language as the service provider, that question can’t be asked and a response not properly interpreted.”
You Have A Voice is an assessment tool to help with identifying human trafficking victims. This project funds the translation of the assessment to multiple languages, including ASL and Braille. It can be used by first responders such as medical professionals, social workers, law enforcement, teachers, etc. to help identify someone they suspect my be a victim of trafficking.
