Abenaki Event at Champlain – Dec. 8

In respect to Native American and Indigenous Heritage, we have invited a very important guest to our community to educate us on his Abenaki tradition, identity, and art mediums. Chief Don Stephens of the Nulhegan Band of The Coosuk in Shelburne has donated his time to spend enriching our community with his wisdom.

As many of you may be aware, there are many modern issues regarding modern Native American Sovereignty, this of course includes the Dakota Pipeline and conflicts with The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

This event will begin with an information session by Chief Don, followed by a roundtable discussion for all your questions and curiosities to be answered by an expert, and it will conclude with a traditional Nulhegan drumming/singing demonstration.

We are very pleased to have Chief Don Stephens adding to our community here at Champlain, and we encourage all of you to attend this event in  Aiken Hall, Morgan Room at 7:00 PM on Thursday December 8th. We wish to see as many enriched minds grow at this event, I look forward to seeing you all!
