Carpool to Campus Day – February 16th

For Sustain Champlain’s Sustainability Month and in partnership with CATMA we present Carpool to Campus Day 2016:

To help create space for our Admissions Winter Open House families who will be parking at Lakeside, we are asking you to share a car with two or more fellow employees or commuter students on February 16th (or, if the boss will allow it, don’t come to campus at all…telecommute!)

To have less cars in Lakeside, we are offering FREE, carpool-only parking at Summit Hall lot, Jensen lot and Skiff Lot. Yes, this means a Zone 1 permit holder (or others) can totally park on campus that day in one of these lots for free as long as 2 or more Champlain people get out of the car 😉 and as long as there are spaces left. If you are a “Lakesider”, its fine to park at Lakeside, just make sure you buddy up so there is more space for families and possibly park near the back of the lot.

When you arrive at Lakeside or these core campus lots, you will be greeted with free coffee, hot chocolate, cider, treats and a chance to win a $50 gift card of your choice.

Don’t know anyone else who carpools near you? Want to offer a ride, but don’t know how? Add your name to our Google Spreadsheet (can also be found at bit.ly/CarpooltoCampusDay) or contact anyone on that sheet to organize between yourselves a time and place. Or just stalk the watercooler all day 🙂 Feel free to use the facebook event to sort out a carpool buddy there too for the social media savvy. Posts like “I live in Milton, leave for work at 8am and would be happy to carpool” would be perfect.

Who knows, if this pilot works well, we will be able to use our knowledge to offer better, more targeted carpooling incentives in the future. We would love to see who or how you carpooled that day. Feel free to take a selfie and post on social media using #carpooltocampus. Or just post fun photos at the Facebook Event Page. We may even be throwing out spot prizes to those posters or hashtaggers out there.

Thanks for doing your part as the Champlain Community. Bottom line is that this is a super important event (Winter Open House) that we all have an interest in being a positive experience for the families of potential new students. Also it helps us save some money, CO2 or meet a new friend. It is Sustainability Month after all. For questions, comments or ideas feel free to reach out to me.

Ride on,
Nic
